ABOUT ABOUT

Spring Equinox is just a few days away! Come out of hibernation and ground yourself in the main garden at Reynolda Gardens. Spring Equinox is the time when the day and night are equal.  Building on this theme, LaShanda and Beth would like to assist the participants in finding balance through still meditation and moving meditation. Connect with the rhythms of the gardens, of the Earth, of yourself.

Please dress comfortably and in layers for still and moving practices (layers are suggested). Bring something to sit on, towel, yoga mat, chair.

Rain or Shine. The Reynolda Gardens Education Wing will be used in case of bad weather.

No experience necessary.

All proceeds from the registration/donation go to Reynolda Gardens.  LaShanda and Beth are gifting their time to say, ‘Thank You,” to this beautiful place here in Winston-Salem.  Please consider becoming a “Friend of Reynolda Gardens”, if you are not one already.

About the Presenters:

Dr. LaShanda Brown is a nurse practitioner and yoga teacher who conducts research examining self-care practices of nurses with a particular focus on building and maintaining resilience.  Her past research looks at the roles of nurses in the community and the impact of their selfless service on the lives that they touched.  Currently, she is interested in exploring the impact of their work on their own personal health and well being.  In this research, she will explore the impact of this professional role on nurse's self-rated measures of burnout, and the prevalence of contemplative practices like mindfulness, yoga, meditation, and reflective journaling.

Dr. Brown teaches yoga and meditation in the community and has seen firsthand the positive impact that these practices can have on individuals in the healthcare professions.  She currently hosts monthly women’s circles and bimonthly mini-retreats to offer spaces for women to reflect, learn tools for resilience and form supportive communities.
